Dear Patient,
After your treatment at the University Medical Center, it may be advisable to extend your therapy in a rehabilitation center.
To ensure that you receive the best possible treatment during the rehabilitation phase, the University Medical Center Freiburg together with selected rehabilitation centers have founded the Regional Rehabilitation Network (RehaNetz) at the University Medical Center Freiburg.
The objective of the Regional Rehabilitation Network (RehaNetz) at the University Medical Center Freiburg is to establish collaborative partnerships with external rehabilitation centers in all medical specialities and subspecialities to optimize your recuperation.
What advantages does the Regional Rehabilitation Network at the University Medical Center Freiburg offer?

- We will coordinate and organise your transfer promptly without delay.
- In case new complications arise, you can be transferred back to the University Medical Center immediately.
- Your medical documentation will be forwarded to the rehabilitation center so that expensive and laborious examinations are not repeated.
- We perform regular quality controls to ensure the highest quality medical treatment.
- Our clinics are engaged in research and teaching and can therefore offer you state-of-the-art medical services.

What does rehabilitation mean?
At the University Medical Center Freiburg the focus is to treat your illness and eliminate its causes.
Rehabilitation is intended to recover functions and abilities that were lost due to illness or injury and to enable you to participate in normal family and social life.
|
Rehabilitation
- Completes the acute medical treatment
- Secures and improves on the achievements of previous therapy
- Facilitates your professional and social reintegration
- May be conducted on an inpatient or outpatient basis
Subsequent treatment (second-line treatment) is the term used for rehabilitation that follows an acute medical treatment. It should be commenced as soon as possible after the discharge from the University Medical Center to optimize its benefits.
|
How do I start my rehabilitation?
The application process for rehabilitation is not complicated. Consult your physician or make an appointment with the Social Service (Sozialdienst) Department at the University Medical Center to discuss the cost coverage by your health insurance company and to determine the most suitable rehabilitation plan for you.
Your wishes for a specific rehabilitation center will be taken into consideration when it is time to select the appropriate treatment center. Usually, you will receive information regarding approval of your application for rehabilitation while you are still in the University Medical Center.
|
Who pays for the rehabilitation?
Provided that all medical prerequisites are met, the costs of the rehabilitation will be covered by the health insurance company and/or the German accident insurance plan. There may, however, be additional personal contributions. Social Services (Sozialdienst) will inform you about the possibility of exemption from these additional contributions.
